We worked with preeminent Mexico Human Rights organization, Comisión Mexicana Para La Defensa Y Promoción De Los Derechos Humanos (CMDPH) to create a satiric video designed to persuade the International Criminal Court to investigate alleged crimes against humanity perpetrated by Mexican military and security forces from 2006-2012—Mexico’s “war against organized crime.” Our video satirizes a well-known international tourism campaign of the same name launched by the Mexican government. While the Government’s campaign features idealized images of Mexican landscapes and leaves out realistic images of the Mexican people, our version juxtaposes similarly beautiful scenery with real stories from victims of human rights atrocities.
