William Fitzgerald

William is the head of communications for the Google Cloud Artificial Intelligence team. Prior to this he led public policy communications for the corporate comms team at Google and originally moved to the U.S. in 2015 to lead public policy and communications for a special projects team setup and guided by the Google founder and CEO of Alphabet, Larry Page. This team created Sidewalk Labs, one of the Alphabet Inc. companies. From 2010-2015, William lived and worked in Hong Kong where he was a policy manager on Google’s Public Policy and Government Affairs team for Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Russia. He previously served as a Director for the Asia Internet Coalition, an industry trade association set up to promote the understanding of Internet policy issues in the Asia-Pacific Region. He also co founded the HKHelpersCampaign, an advocacy group setup to advocate for the rights of domestic workers in Hong Kong. William received a first-class honors Bachelor’s degree in Business and Political Science from studies completed in Trinity College Dublin. He earned a Masters in International Relations from Dublin City University and a Master of Laws in Human Rights Law from the University of Hong Kong. William lives in San Francisco with his wife, Sana Saleem, and dog Railey.
